Montmartre Guided tour

Montmartre still has a small town atmosphere, as it use to be independent from the capital. Connected in 1860, it was progressively urbanised and populated. Despite all this, many artists found here the inspiration they were looking for : countryside atmosphere, cheap alcohol and models for the artists and proximity to the cabarets of Pigalle. Montmartre still has numerous artist studios such as the famous Bateau-Lavoir, still occupied to this day.

Today, even though it is very busy, the neighbourhood of Montmartre is one of the most dynamic in Paris and offers different atmospheres : rural and trendy. Definitely not to be missed during one of your Paris visits!
