Louvre Museum Guided Tour

The Louvre is the biggest museum in the world! It is therefore sometimes hard to navigate among the kilometres of galleries and the thousands of works of art: 35000 in total are exhibited! Founded in the middle of the French Revolution in 1793, the museum is made up of works of art coming from old royal collections, revolutionary appropriation and of course donations and acquisitions.

What does a guided tour of the Louvre Museum Guided Tour with With’art include?

If you are discovering the Louvre for the first time, I suggest a guided tour of the most famous works of art of the Louvre museum, spread out in the seven different sections. We will start with the history of the museum and the remains of the medieval fortress founded by king Philippe-Auguste in 1180.

We will then continue with the masterpieces of Greek art such as the Venus de Milo or the Victory of Samothrace. We will continue the visit with Renaissance paintings, stopping of course in front of Leonardo de Vinci’s famous Joconde. The tour will end with the masterpieces of XIXth century French artists such as the Raft of the Medusa or the large format canvases of Jacques-Louis David, first curator of the museum.

Louvre Museum Guided Tour: Naturally, the guided tour of the Louvre will also show you that the Louvre is not just a museum but that it was also a royal and artistic residence of great importance which has kept several of its grandiose decors.
